Graduate department "Theory and practice of tourism and hotel industry" was established in 1995.

The Department is a structural unit of the Faculty of tourism, hotel and restaurant business.

Department of theory and practice of tourism and hospitality management prepares and graduates on the specialty "Tourism" and "Hospitality Management "on all forms of education.

The main purpose of the department is to train highly qualified specialists in the field of tourism and hospitality industry that can freely navigate in the contemporary market of hospitality services.

The department provides an effective solution of educational, organizational, methodological, research and information analysis tasks for training experts of tourism and hospitality industry.

In order to ensure effective integration of theory and practice of tourism and hospitality management department has opened its branches at the base of the hotel complex "Bratislava", hotel complex "Dnepr"; Hotel and Tourist Complex "Intourist-Transcarpathia"; National Natural Park "Podil's'ki Tovtry"; Tourism Company "Sputnik-Ukraine ".

Educational work

• organization of educational process in accordance with the objectives KUTEL;
• improving the educational process at the expense of quality teaching disciplines and practical training;
• updating and improving the list and contents of disciplines in the light of innovative technologies and modern requirements of the tourist market;
• cooperation with leading enterprises of the tourism and hotel profile. 

Educational and methodical work

• development of teaching methods of disciplines;
• develop guidance on the implementation of course work in disciplines of the faculty;
• develop guidance to implement the diploma thesis;
• discussion of teaching development and their recommendations for publication;
• attract students to teaching methods and scientific-research work of the department;
• improve the profile of projects and dissertations with the direction of the decision of urgent socio-economic problems of the practice of tourism and hotel business.

Fedorchenko Vladimir - head of department, doctor of pedagogical sciences, professor, President of the Association of Ukrainian educational institutions in the hotel and tourism profile.

The main directions of scientific-research work of the department are:

Problems of education in the field of tourism

• participate in scientific conferences, symposia and round tables on education in the field of tourism;
• participate in the development of industry standards of higher education;
• development and introduction of modular training;
• participate in the elaboration of the Staffing Support of the tourism;
• development and implementation of intelligent manuals on disciplines of the faculty for students of all forms of training (with the use of modern computer programs) in conjunction with the Department of Computer and Information Technology;
• development of structural and logical connections between disciplines of the tourist destination;
• development of concepts of training for the tourism and hospitality sectors.

Problems of development of the science of tourism

• participate in scientific conferences, symposia and round tables on issues of scientific problems in the field of tourism;
• participate in the development of scientific research on the development of tourism in Ukraine;
• analysis of world trends in tourism and hospitality industry;
• study of the regional aspects of tourism and hotel business;
• Analyzing the development of tourist areas in accordance with the objectives of the State Service of Tourism and Resorts;
• conduct review (instructions, standards, programs, etc.);
• providing consultations on the tourism and hospitality industry scientific and educational organizations and institutions;
• development of standards in the sphere of tourism;
• preparation and publication of scientific papers on tourism issues;
• participate in legislative activities (amendments and additions to the Law of Ukraine "On Tourism").

Formation of the interaction between science and practice

• cooperation agreements with companies, organizations of tourism and educational institutions
• participate in the development of projects, programs and other legal materials for the development of tourist sphere in Ukraine
• development of standards of competence in the field of tourism and hospitality
• providing advice on tourism and hospitality industry
• work on probation of the members of the Chair in leading enterprises and organizations of tourism, as well as leading educational institutions of Ukraine and abroad.
