November 21 - Day of dignity and freedom

Holiday installed "in order to instill in Ukraine the ideals of freedom and democracy, preserve and deliver to contemporary and future generations of objective information about the momentous events in Ukraine in the XXI century as well as the issuance of proper respect patriotism and courage of citizens who in autumn of 2004 and in November 2013 - February 2014 stood in defense of democratic values, rights and freedoms of man and citizen, national interests of our state and its European choice ... "

Earlier Decree of November 19, 2005 № 1619/2005, President of Ukraine Viktor Yushchenko set a holiday - the Day of Freedom. It was proposed to celebrate this holiday every year, November 22, to approve Ukraine in the ideals of freedom and democracy, nurturing feelings of national dignity.

Freedom Day in Ukraine was approved by the President of Ukraine Viktor Yushchenko, given the historical significance of revolutionary sentiment.

November 22, 2004 start date "orange" revolution in Ukraine, the company nationwide protests, rallies, pickets, strikes and other actions of civil disobedience against arbitrary power. Events were organized and held by supporters of Viktor Yushchenko, the main opposition candidate in the presidential election in November - December 2004.

The action started after the Central Election Commission of the results of the second round of presidential elections (as a result of the first identified two candidate - Viktor Yushchenko and Viktor Yanukovych), according to which Viktor Yanukovych won. After the Supreme Court held a second vote of the second round, in which the president of Ukraine was Viktor Yushchenko.

Unfortunately, the authorities established in Ukraine at the time, failed to implement most expectations, the assigned Ukrainian society.

Then, the next president of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych became. Freedom Day in Ukraine was abolished and merged with the Day of Unity of Ukraine Decree of 30 December 2011 №1209 / 2011 "On celebrating anniversaries in Ukraine and professional holidays" and was celebrated in 2012 - 22 January.

After the events of 2013 - 2014 year, Advantages revolution and tragedy early undeclared war of Russia against Ukraine, the occupation of "brotherly Russian people" Crimean peninsula and several regional centers in eastern Ukraine, according to the Decree of the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko № 872/2014 of 13th November 2014 year holiday received a new breath.

Events of the Day of dignity and freedom in Kyiv

November 21 from 16 pm to midnight on Maidan - students and musical marathon "free people create the future", which will bring together 15 young creative teams. It will focus on the students who first came on November 21 to Independence.

At Khreshchatyk from 21 to 30 November last exhibition "Strikeposter", which will include 21 poster, which became part of history of Euromaidan.
